My mom... I swear to god, my mom...

I am going to force-enroll her in Computing 101. I am going to hack her MCC account and sign her up and sell a kidney for the fees if I have to.

She just came out to use the old crappy computer that still runs Win95, and which she hates, to check her e-mail. We had her set up on that briefly while her laptop was being repaired. It turns out her laptop isn't receiving it, because she doesn't have her password programmed into Thunderbird on that account and couldn't remember it.

Easy enough, though, I could just pull it off the crappy computer. As I was starting Thunderbird to do exactly this, she suddenly pointed at the screen.

"There! See, 'Inbox', my computer won't get that!"

Horror overtakes me. Visions dance in my head of Mom somehow managing to delete her inbox. Deeply aggravated and confused, I go to inspect her laptop.

Turns out all she means is it's not receiving new mail. Which, of course, I know.

So I go back to the crappy computer to pull up her password, and call her to come watch so she can see how to do it. I explain that we're going to get her password.

"Why can't we do it on my laptop?" she asks.

*head x desk otp 4eva*

Opening up commissions again. I need money, I want to draw moar and I have the time to, win-win situation, right?

My Gaia inventory has come to resemble something that a dragon would like to sleep on, so I decided it was about time to throw caution to the winds, take a screenshot of what I wanted to get rid of, and make a thread in the Exchange forum so everyone could buy the shit I didn't want.

This seemed like a good idea until I got FUCKING MOBBED.

In hindsight, putting up half of my rather sizable inventory without selling off the more valuable stuff on the marketplace first was probably a contributing factor.

On the upside I sure am making a lot of gold!

So apparently there's a Flash player exploit loose in the wild.

Better safe than sorry, etc., probably best to follow the advice given and update your Flash players.

Today was effectively the Day of Cosplay, as I ended up attending three different cosplay panels. All were quite edifying - one was mainly tips and tricks and "this is how we do thus-and-such, and our design philosophy" and other such tricks of the trade, another one was all about cosplay makeup, and the last one was, of course, Chris's panel. I came away feeling pretty inspired after each one. I feel ready to work on some cosplay. 8D

Other than that, all I did was karaoke. Which was fun! I hung out with friends and it was a good time.

I have to say, on a personal level I'm really thrilled about this con. The director is a friend of mine from Japanese classes, and I'm really impressed at what she managed to pull together in less than four months. She had less than half the time most cons have to prepare, and despite it really pulled off a quality con. After this, I think her reputation is pretty much made. XD So I'm happy for her! It's just really cool to watch someone you know go do totally awesome shit.

So anyway, that was my con. ♥ Fun, relaxed, and just really a good time.

Nothing very epic today, but I had fun. Did some more karaoke, went to some panels, went to the maid cafe (<3! but I lost my photos... D:), and of course Masquerade.

Eh, as Masquerades go it was okay. My friend got the whole thing taped and plans to YouTube it, I might link to it later.

Highlight of the day was meeting up with Christophe. ♥ The biggest reason I decided to attend Saboten instead of AX or another con was because of him, he's a friend of mine and it blew my mind that he was a guest of honor. I'm really excited for him. ♥ So it was neat seeing him today, and I can't wait to see his panel tomorrow.

I kind of regret missing the anime character auction. I saw the tail end of it, and it looked like it was fun. D: Hopefully there'll be one next year.

I SAW FUCKING MIGUEL AND TULIO. FROM ROAD TO EL DORADO. Tulio passed me twice, and it was driving me nuts that the costume looked so familiar and I couldn't recognize it, so I asked and then OMFG YAY. They had the map and the little guitar-thing and everything it was fabulous.

Dealer's room was pathetically tiny. Maybe eight booths, and the room was so small they actually had a bouncer in the earlier part of the day to make sure only a certain amount of people could be in the room. LAME. However, that did not stop me from finding a lot of awesome stuff, even things I'd about given up on getting. I HAVE MY ROXAS PLAY ARTS AT LAST. And a KH crown necklace that doesn't suck.

Cosplay chess was absolutely awesome. It's really very satisfying to watch, on multiple levels - there's the excitement of watching a strategy game in progress, discussing each move with your fellow spectators, and then there's the ridiculous fun of watching the "pieces" acting in-character as they take each other out. XD It was half intellectual exercise, half playful spectacle. We had a Tatewaki Kuno who went absolutely above and beyond the call of duty in his IC-ness, and Zack was the support for the white side while Aerith was a player on the white side. When she inevitably got killed, Zack moved a piece to capture the one who'd taken her out, ordering it to "Avenge her!! ;_;" XD

(Also: prior to this point, Aerith had been put in a bad spot with only one apparent safe move, which wouldn't stay safe long. She was praying for all she was worth, the crowd was muttering about how she was pretty much dead... and in a lull, somebody yelled "NO SPOILERS!" The entire room cracked up. XD)

Other awesome chess moments included Princess Daisy hip-checking Dante, Black Mage stabbing Aerith ala Sephiroth (of course!), Mario killing someone with a plunger, and someone yelling - as pawn!Phoenix approached the opposing side - that he was about to get a sex change. (I'm just sorry that Phoenix never got to object anyone to death.)

Not actually much to do, so I spent a lot of time hanging out at a friend's art table; they offered me art supplies, so I drew 13-year-old Franziska. :D

Yaoi panel was boring, what the fuck. I am displeased.


In summation: good swag, fun company, opportunity to draw Fran, good pictures, overall a fun time. Tomorrow: Masquerade! And whatever else I fill the time with.

So I'm 23 today!

I'll be gone-ish for the weekend, as I'm going to Saboten-Con in Phoenix. ♥

This post has nothing to do with Disney, or much of anything nice. (I should make more Disney posts; I've had some lovely experiences I should really blog about, and at the very least pictures that need to be shared.) I've been lurking on some posts about feminism and rape, and that sort of thing always makes me look inward contemplatively. So that is what this post is about.

Well, today was bipolar.

It's not like I'm not still wrestling with the cosmic questions, but the nihilism's taking a serious beating from the pixie dust and I at least feel okay about life right now. ♥


Edit: ... uh, so, um. Hahaha. I just remembered something.

Our fountain? The story we tell is that it's water from Snow White's well, throw a pebble in and you might get your wish, etc. standard wishing well stuff.

The pebbles tend to get out of the fountain base and onto the floor. I picked one up off a table today, during the first half of the shift when I was still freaking out, and tossed it. I was aiming for the base with all the other pebbles, but it ended up in the water. So I half-jokingly wished not to be afraid.

Not long after, things started getting awesome, leaving me, if not strictly optimistic, then at least... haha... not afraid.

Haha. Ha. Um.

I have no idea what to make of this. 8D;

Spending a full day at Epcot after eight consecutive days of work may not have been my most brilliant idea ever, or so my feet tell me. It was hella fun, though. I got to meet a lot of the characters I wanted to meet (and can now attest that princeali_m_fan is not even slightly exaggerating when she talks about the really good Aladdin at Epcot), and randomly ran into a coworker later in the evening so we spent the rest of the night hanging out. IT WAS AWESOME.

And today I finally did laundry, and some other household chores, and am currently stuffed to the gills and lazy and really have nothing better to do with my time. So what the hell, it's Recycled Meme Time!
